Jay Fenichel (fen’-eh-shell) has been a professional drummer/instructor for over 3 decades and is the founder of Study The Drums App.

After graduating in 1998 from The Conservatory Of Music @ SUNY Purchase in NY with a BA in Jazz Performance on Drum Set. Jay went on to tour as a sideman with various artists.

As a pro-drummer, Jay performed with various artists sharing the stage with national acts like DMB, Sugar Ray, Seal, SR71, Derek Trucks, James Taylor and many more...

He become the head instructor at The ‘Ratamacue Percussion Learning Center’ in East Northport, NY in the early 2000s and later opened the J-Sonic Music Studio in Amityville, NY where he taught up to 70 students a week.

Today, Jay lives in Baltimore MD area and works from his studio keeping a busy schedule teaching online, performing and recording with various artists as well as creating new content for social media and his App, Study The Drums.

Jay has recording hundreds of session, Traveled all over the world as the Music Director for 4 different Wedding/Corporate bands based out of NYC and Atlanta, and continues to teach and spread the art of drumming to his students and almost 500K subscribers/followers across different social media platforms. @thedrummersalmanac
